Go kart torque converter problem?

Go Kart Parts
joe asked:

When I take off from a dead stop my go kart jolts real bad, especially with the extra weight of another person. Imagine the chain slipping around the sprockets if it were too lose or worn out, that is what it feels like but that is not the problem. I’m pretty sure it has to be the torque converter. What do you think? Also, what is a good online place for go kart parts?

Usually, a go-kart will not have a torque converter, but a centrifical clutch, it would give you the same symptoms if it were going out. I know Northern Tool has a pretty good selection of parts, the important info would be what kind of engine is on it, and maybe how many teeth are on the engine sprocket.

at the bottom of this page is a Torque converter troubleshooting section, and a very good one too.

HERE is their main Torque converter page.

    then the main page

I had to tune MY torque converter to work with a diesel engine as it puts out a ton of torque right at the beginning.

BMI has a god site worth looking thrutoo.
